Association "PRAVNIK"

The summer school project for social sciences students was implemented in Sarajevo, BiH, for the first time in 2006 by Sarajevo Law Students’ Association. After leaving the Law Faculty and due success of the mentioned project, several young people (previous members of the Governing Board of SLSA and Sarajevo International Summer School 2006 team) decided to register a new NGO to continue promoting values of democracy, rule of law and legal state through different projects.
SISS 2006 gathered 35 students (from SEE and EU) for 7 days in Sarajevo to teach them Balkan studies and to give them the opportunity to discuss relevant issues related to SEE and the European Union. According to the opinion of participants, this project was successfully implemented. The implementation of the project was supported by the Law Faculty (Sarajevo University), Cantonal Ministry of Science and Education (Sarajevo Canton) and Konrad Adenauer Foundation- Rule of Law Program South East Europe.

Testimonies on Sarajevo International Summer School on Balkan Studies 2006
Gillian Chute - Ireland…
SISS 2006 was an honor and privilege to attend. It was a fantastic experience for me personally as I am currently undertaking academic research on Bosnia. The range and quality of guest speakers that the SISS organized were extremely beneficial to my studies and it greatly broadened contacts for my own research. The lectures were dynamic, thought-provoking and delivered by many impressive individuals. The huge diversity in people ensured that there was a vibrant mix of young people, all offering exciting opinions on the many, many things discussed, from politics to football, over the week…

… In 2006 I had the possibility to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina when participating to the first edition of the Sarajevo International Summer School. It was brilliant how participants from different nations mingled together and made friends. I felt quite privileged to have the possibility to attend the first edition of the SISS. Definitely, that was an experience I will cherish throughout my life!...

… As for the extracurricular activities I’m extremely pleased with all the events that were planned by the organizers. I enjoyed much the sight-seeing of Sarajevo and Mostar and especially the rafting on Neretva river which already is an ineffaceable remembrance for me. I also appreciated very much the idea to have a European night where each one of us presented its country of origin...
